The Great Dreamer, the Sleeper of R'lyeh, the High Priest of the Great Old Ones, Great Cthulhu.

Cthulhu is an ancient alien God who came from beyond the stars & arrived on Earth in prehistoric times, bringing with him his son Ghatanothoa & a servitor race called the Star-Spawn. Cthulhu then constructed the nightmare corpse city named R'lyeh, which was not made of any earthly material, & its geometry would confuse any sane mind. Cthulhu ruled the planet for several eons, asserting his dominance over the rest of the Great Old Ones in an event called the Great Old War where they all fought for supremacy. Cthulhu also killed an Outer God named D'endrrah who was planning on devouring the Earth, & even went to war with another alien race called the Elder Things, though they eventually settled things out. At the end of the Cretaceous Period, Cthulhu's brother Hastur yote a meteor at the planet, sinking the city & wiping out the dinosaurs. At the same time, Cthulhu & Hastur cursed each other; Cthulhu cursed Hastur to be trapped in a weaker form, & Hastur cursed Cthulhu to sleep for millions of years. In the meantime, Cthulhu has since communicated with earthlings through telepathy & dreams, introducing himself to the first men, who formed a cult which has never died. The rest of the Great Old Ones await deep beneath the Earth & under the sea, waiting for the High Priest Cthulhu to signal their return. Only when the stars align may the curses be lifted, & the horrific eldritch monsters be awakened at their full power. Then shall they hold dominion over the world once more, bringing woe & destruction onto mankind.
