Funny i had a more realistick looking mayan which can still be seen at rdna galleries but the image was blasted as to ugly and racest so this was added to apease the da crowd at the time. originaly she was decked out in a palm woven kertle ear spools and black and white body paint over her left shoulder was a cape of feathers as well as feathers in her hair which was tied up in a loose top knot. with culpawatha through her nose and a cerimonial gold nose bridge cover over her septum as would have been a standard of mayan beauty. and as this image was done for a contest at the time i had to resubmit it with a more eurocentric/hollywood vission of a mayan.
But if you and your friend would be interested in seeing the original image i would love to repost it.

oh, one more thing, the skintone, mayan had a darker one. like on the movie Apocalypto, they really got the mayan dressing style there. the common ppl don't used many ornaments or clothing, but this is called a princess, so i said it needs more feathers

Yup a rich reddish brown skintone and yes lots of feathers as status symbols. and the word pricencess is not mayan at all acording to recent finds at rio azul it would have been ultalan-umux al or honored mater

there is a really good book put out by an englishman named charles philiphs he is atempting to make a lexicon of maya to spanish, maya to english, and maya to german he has tanslated much of the maya words but not yet the syntax like he figgured out one of the rulers of copans name was 18 rabbit but what that ment in maya is still unknown.

i will i thought i was awesome and as realistic as we can pice together from what little remains. i love the mayan culture and have always been fastenated with it. in fact i have another image i made for fun called the ball game, you know what thats a picture of i am sure!! i would love to post it if you would like to see it.

DarkestRap In reply to megaduce [2007-05-01 04:57:51 +0000 UTC]

the ball, game, kinda difficult if you try to practice it, you can only touch it with the upper part of the body, and can't do it with the hands either. and you have to pass it trhough a vertical stone ring at the extreme of the court, but was the contrary to the courts of fooball or b-ball. they used the rings on the sides.

megaduce In reply to DarkestRap [2007-05-01 10:49:18 +0000 UTC]

i know it is hard to picture the game especialy when you judge the size and position of the stone rings how it was played but i gave it a shot (no pun intended

Mexico is also the cradle of mayans, dude! ^
I love mayans, so i visited the whole mayan area... Though some great mayan cities like Tikal, Kaminaljuyú, Naranjo are in Guatemala, some others like Palenque, Yaxchilán, Bonampak, Chichén Itzá... are in Mexico.

But i totally agree with you... i'm from Mexico and one thing i can tell u is that she doesn't look like a mayan princess... the racial type, the absence of feathers (highly valorated in mayan culture, specially quetzal ones), the details on the back wall, the absence of glyphs... and some other details.

Though your work is very cool...

yes you are right the majority of maya sites are in mexico though there are indeed many in Guatemala but the precursers to the maya the olmecs developed in southen mexico and spead out from there as did the toltecs.

ya, you alright, but, personally i thinks the most important Mayan cities were in Guatemala. So, you are from Mexico, entonces, entiendes español cierto!?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Linwe-Limballanwe In reply to DarkestRap [2007-03-20 01:37:23 +0000 UTC]

He aquí mis resultados:

REINA ROJA (MEXICO):
