Description A new red character He likes to punch things. So he punches this punching bag. But little did he know....

This took FOREVER. I worked like eight hours on it I didn't shade the bag because it would probably take a couple more hours There are a few details I forgot to put in, but meh, they aren't that noticeable. Maybe another day I'll polish it

Damn that animation is smooth. I would not be able to pull off that bag animation in the slightest, much less the arm motion.

Only thing that I can suggest (that you haven't covered) is making it loop. That would make it look significantly more finished regardless if it is or not.

Yep, looping is definitely a biggy. I think the main reason I didn't go ahead and make it loop is that I would have had to find some way to get rid of the bag's momentum for it to look right. And due to my messiness, I didn't really give it much air resistance, so it would be really hard to make it slow down and look natural. But I just know there's a way to do it!

For animating the bag, I first took three spheres. One big one and two smallish ones. The big one was centered where the string is hinged and had a radius going out to where the string meets the bag. The other two spheres were stacked together and placed right underneath the big one so that all the edges meet. From there I could easily make sure all the distances were properly constrained. Then it's just physics to animate to movement of the spheres. After all that, I just drew the bag and string over the spheres and removed the spheres.

As for the arm motion, persistance of vision for the win. If you look closely enough you can see that the hands themselves actually barely move and the blur effects are actually doing all of the work.

You know I don't think I've actually heard that technique used before. I know people like myself usually wing it but you actually thought things through, which is impressive. If I decide to be that cruel to myself I might actually try something like that.

NOT TO MENTION SCIENCE.

Needless to say I am genuinely impressed.

I really love the animation on this It's so smooth and life like to how it would move, one thing I would suggest is somehow making it loop but otherwise I love it

Thanks! Making it look physically right was a TON of work, and it still didn't come out perfectly, but oh well
Yeah looping would definitely be nice. I probably should have looked into that more. If I ever go back and fix all the other kinks i'll do that
