I did this one last year for a portfolio. This is one of three concepts for the Ivalice Bomb Squad, a team of magical fire fighters.

I've always loved Ryoma Itoh's drawings for Final Fantasy's Ivalice characters. My basis was the Tactics Advance concepts, as I hadn't played FFXII or Tactics A2. Say what you will about Tactics Advance's gameplay and plot, but I was fascinated by the critters. I wish someone would publish a zoological survey about Final Fantasy monsters and races, like they do for Star Wars. The Tactics Advance races had some particularly interesting features... like, the Moogles and Viera both resembling rabbits, and the Nu Mou and Bangaa both being somewhat reptilian. Did one evolve from the other? Do they have common animal ancestors? And while we're asking questions, what about the sociology of these races? We know some basic facts, but how do certain races deal with everyday problems?

The bomb squad I thought up while asking myself these questions. A highly trained fire brigade to handle any flame related crisis, which, in Ivalice, I assume usually has to do with Bombs.

What the hell are Bombs anyway? Living fire? An animated object gone haywire? Some poor magician's mistake? Such trivia makes the world go round...
