I like how you apparently used that tiny little sketch at the top as the guideline for that ridiculously detailed drawing.

That's so well done. I also like the mini concept drawing at the top.

The art is great, as are the comments fielded by its commissioner about its design. I usually hate to nit-pick but I'm just extraordinarily curious as to where you came by the name Knight Errant.
Again, absolutely ridiculous detail. You should be incredibly proud of it.

The overall theme of the ship naming is based on battles from the poetic and prose edda. I cover some more detail on that in the journal where I featured this. Knight Errant fits with the theme of the utilization of the ship and some undertones in the story.

At the bottom of my journals for the last few months is a static reference area that links to the Felarya Wiki (Felarya is the universe), Karbo's site (Felarya's creator), the Felarya Forums, and my website. Registration is required due to mature content.

What is the purpose of the "hammerhead" prow? Maneuvering? Deployment of torpedoes or some other ordnance? Sensor clusters? Heat sinks for a central main weapon?

aethernavale In reply to hotwaxonlobsters [2011-10-16 23:04:19 +0000 UTC]
The hammerhead is for living and berthing primarily. There isn't a lot of space elsewise for it.

That's one cool locking ship. I especially like the gun turrets. They give it a retro look, while it still looks high-tech.

Inertia Drives, they the kind that stretch and compact space to move from point A to point B?
The known Loophole to the light-speed limit.

aethernavale In reply to DPRagan [2011-10-16 17:10:45 +0000 UTC]
These ships are designed for atmosphere operation, so no, the inertia drive is more simplistic. The Felaryan universe has an 'upper cap' to the atmosphere that if you go above, you leave the dimensional plane so the necessity of a spaceship drive was completely negated.

So Sonic-type Inertia drive?
π: 0 β©: 1
aethernavale In reply to DPRagan [2011-10-16 23:03:51 +0000 UTC]
No, more like magneto-gravitic. Electromagnetic and gravitic repulsion. The engines manipulate fields around the hull to keep the ship 'afloat'. Scifi only, heh.
