Once upon a time there was a great big Venusaur, the most eligible bachelor in all the land, and he was required to produce two heirs for his trainer's living dex. Caesar was in need of a Ditto, and Grenadine was the first to pop out of the tall grass. Egg laying is an impersonal task for Ditto, a service they provide on request with minimal contact and zero affection. However, that seems really creepy with gijinkas, so instead I made the two endure a lengthy courtship, and also decided that Grenadine would be on our championship team. Ditto aren't great at battling, so it was up to Caesar to help Exp. Share his new fiancee into a chance at survival. Caesar gets really emotionally attached to the Pokemon he helps train, it's his one big personality flaw. And Grenadine, who had never had a friend before, became really emotionally attached to their first source of affection. The two have a very codependent relationship but it suits them and they're happy.
The two have produced two offspring (Caprese and Cobb), and now live cozily together in a peaceful forest. Gren often takes the form of a Venusaur to fit in, but C actually thinks they're cuter as their natural form.
Gren was actually extremely useful when I was catching a Mewtwo.
