Description
"What kind of responsibilities do you have?" I asked quietly. We had moved to the floor; Jacob sat across from me his legs spread out.
"It's complicated." He mumbled.
"Oh."
Jacob looked down to meet me eyes; I looked away so I wouldn't cry. He reached out and lifted my chin with his finger. I stared back at him and he smiled.
"You have beautiful eyes." He said.
"Thank you.." I said blushing. I shook my face free of his grip and started to play with a loose thread on my pyjama shorts.
We sat in silence. I tried to avoid Jacob's gaze; I felt his eyes on my face. He let out a big breath.
"Ness, I have something I need to tell you." I looked up at his expression; his eyes were shut and his brow was furrowed. I nodded once and continued to look at him.
Jacob stood up and held out his hand for me. Once I was standing he swooped his arms under my legs and cradled me in his arms.
"Jake what are you doing?" I asked outraged.
"It makes more sense to show you." He walked towards the window and opened it with his free arm.
"Hold on tight, okay?" He said. I nodded a quick yes and closed my eyes. In one swift movement we landed on the grass underneath my window with a quiet thud. I released my tight grip on his neck so I wouldn't choke him.
"Are you insane?!" I yelled at him. He laughed in response and started to run. It was a pace I was used to; Jacob was just as fast as me and my family. I couldn't wrap my head around what was happening. I watched the blur of green as he ran. When he stopped we were in the middle of the forest. He set me down on my feet and put his hands on my shoulders. He looked down and met my gaze.
"Now; this might frighten you. But you have to know I am not going to hurt you Ness. Never." He said seriously.
"Okay." I squeaked.
Jacob held up his index finger and darted off deeper into the woods. I was getting nervous; I didn't like to be in the forest alone especially at night. I looked around nervously. I heard a ripping noise and then the sound of paws. About a minute later a huge brown wolf emerged from the woods. I heard myself gasp. I stared the animal in the face and I saw the big brown eyes of Jacob. I walked closer to him with one arm stretched out in front of me. He lowered his big head to touch my hand.
"Jake?" I whispered. He nodded.
I touched his head and started to pet him like a dog. I scratched behind his ear and he smiled; his tongue hanging out of his mouth. I let out a giggle and stared at him.
"Can you talk?" I asked. He shook his head no.
"Well can you change back so we can talk?" I asked sweetly.
He ran for the trees again. When he returned he was in his human form. I ran to him and wrapped my arms around his waist hiding my head in his chest. He wrapped me in his arms and rested his cheek on top of my head. He kissed my head and held me at arm's length.
"What are you?" I asked.
"A werewolf." He said smirking.
"Do you change with the moon?" Jacob snorted and looked at me.
"Ness; you of all people should know not to believe what you hear in movies."
"So you change when you want to?" He nodded yes.
"What do you do?"
"Hunt vampires." He said quietly. I gasped and looked up at him.
"Only the ones who endanger people! Not your family; we have a treaty with them." He assured me.
"Okay." I let out a sigh of relief. He wrapped me in a hug again.
"Don't worry; everyone you care about is in no danger." He mumbled into my hair. I gave a silent nod. A gust of wind ripped through me and I shuddered under Jacobs's warm skin.
"Let's get you home." He picked me up and ran back towards the house. This time he stopped near the front door. He set me down and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Thank you for showing me." I said resting my hands on his bare chest.
"That's why I didn't come tonight. I am the leader of my pack; I had to handle a situation."
"Leader?" I asked smiling. Jacob snorted.
"Hell, I'm a chief." He said giving me a wide grin. I laughed and reached up to kiss his cheek.

"Goodnight Jake." I said walking towards the door.
"Night, Ness."
I walked up the stairs to my front door and yanked it open. I walked in and saw my family waiting. I knew I would be in trouble for going out at night.
"Hi." I said quietly.
"Renesme-"Edward began but Bella cut him off.
"Renesme, what were you and Jacob doing in the forest?" Bella asked nicely.
"He was showing me … his other form."
"Ah."
"I'm sorry I left; I didn't mean to worry you."
"That's fine. You aren't in trouble; just please tell us next time." Bella smiled. I nodded and smiled back at her.
"You've had a long night; you should go get some sleep." Rosalie said.
"You're right. Night, everyone." I ran up the stairs and shut my door. I flopped on my bed and took in my night's events. Jacob was a werewolf; with a pack. He hunted vampires.
I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I was worn out. In the morning I was awoken by the smell of breakfast. I walked downstairs and saw Edward making bacon and waffles. I flitted to his side and kissed his cheek.
"Morning." I said brightly.
"Good morning love. Did you sleep well?" he asked.
"Like a baby." I declared skipping into the living room. He raised an eyebrow as he watched me leave.
"You seeing Jacob today?" he asked.
"I think so." I smiled at him. He was frowning; I skipped over and hugged his waist.
"I thought you liked Jake." I mumbled.
"I do." He said smiling at me. I raised an eyebrow and he laughed; he ruffled my hair and handed me a plate full of food. I stared at it and felt my eyes widen.
"I can't eat all of this." I declared.
"Oh yeah; sorry that's Seth's plate." He said handing me a much smaller one.
"Seth's coming over?" I asked quietly.
"Yes. His mom and your grandfather are going away for the weekend, and Sue asked us to watch him."
"Oh. Where is he going to sleep?" I asked munching on a piece of bacon.
"I don't know yet; it doesn't bother you does it?" he asked seriously.
"Course not."
As if by perfect timing there was a knock at the door. I went to answer it. When I opened it I saw Seth carrying a bag and a pillow; he was wearing his usual goofy grin that always made me smile.
"Hey Seth; come on in."
"Thanks Nes- Renesme." He said slowly.
"You can call me Ness or Nessie it doesn't matter."
"Okee dokee."
Seth put his stuff down and I handed him his plate of breakfast. He had a huge smile and he bounced his shoulders up and down. I ate with him and laughed along; he winked at me and dug in. As I was watching him I realised he ate just like Jacob. Actually now that I was really looking he and Jacob were a lot alike. Built the same way; but Jake was more buff.
"So Jake let you in on the secret huh?" he asked while swallowing a big bite of food.
I gulped and nodded. I stared at him with a shocked expression on my face.
"It's cool; I'm in the pack." He said pounding his chest.
"You're a wolf too?" I asked amazed. He nodded yes.
"Who else?"
"I'm sure Jake will tell you."
"Okay."
"You just have to be patient." He said laughing.
"What?" I asked feeling self conscious.
"Nothing." He said shaking his head.

When we were finished breakfast I showed Seth his room and went to get dressed. When I was done I found Seth playing foosball by himself. I looked at him seeing how young he really was. He had to be no more than fifteen. I sat on the stairs watching him. When he heard me giggle he looked up and blushed.
"Please don't let me stop you." I said smirking.
"No, that's okay." He said running his hand through his hair.
"Mind if I play?" I asked walking towards him.
"Sure."
"Loser does dishes tonight?" I asked grinning at him.
"You're on!"
We played for at least half an hour. We were very evenly matched; it was a bunch of fun. About half way through Emmett walked in and saw us playing.
"Five bucks on Nessie." He said non-chalantly. I laughed in response and so did Seth.
In the end I beat Seth by three points. When we were finished Emmett gave me a high five and looked at Seth.
"Hand it over, kid." He said grinning. Seth reached into his pockets and gave Emmett his five bucks. Emmett handed it back and laughed.
"Keep the money."
Jacob showed up soon after the game. He didn't knock he just walked in. I ran to him and jumped into his open arms.
"Hey, Nessie." He whispered in my ear.
"Hi." I said smiling up at him. He looked over my head and saw Seth.
"Hey, kid." Seth nodded a hello and flopped onto the couch. I grabbed Jacob's hand and pulled him into the living room. We sat on the couch and talked to Seth. He draped his arm around my shoulders.

"Where are we going?" I asked for the third time. Jacob, Seth and I were crammed in Jacob's little car.
"Would you shut her up?" Jacob asked Seth. I pouted at him and kicked his seat.
"Ow!" he shouted.
"Take it back." I said crossing my arms over my chest.
"You gonna take that Jake?" Seth said peering over the front seat.
"No." He snorted. I cleared my throat and raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry." He mumbled. Seth went into a roar of laughter.
"Way to be a man Jake." He slapped his shoulder. He grunted in response.
We pulled into the woods outside Jacob's house. Seth climbed out and I stayed put. Jacob opened my door and held out his hand. I ignored it and climbed out the other side. Jacob grinned and met me by the other door. I closed the door and scowled up at him.
"Don't be mad." He said grabbing my hands.
"I'm not mad."
"Yes you are. I'm sorry."
"You're forgiven." He leaned down and kissed the tip of my nose.
"Do you want to meet the pack or not?" He asked pulling me towards the woods.
I nodded and hopped on his back. We were in the middle of the forest in nothing flat. He let me down and took one of my hands. I looked up and saw that I was surrounded by faces. I waved to the circle. I got some laughs in response. Jacob cleared his throat and started to introduce everyone.
"Seth." Seth winked at me.
"Leah Clearwater." Jacob waved in the direction of the one girl in the crowd. I smiled at her and waved.
"Quil."
"Embry."
"There's only five of you?" I asked; curious.
"Sam's pack has more." Quil said.
"There's two packs?" I looked towards Jacob.
"Yeah we separated a while ago." I nodded pursing my lips.
"So; someone wanna explain this to me?" I asked loudly.
"Explain what?" Embry asked.
"The wolf-pack thing. How does it work?" I asked moving my hands around.
Jacob told me the pack legends and all about the transformation. I listened quietly and took in all the information. Everyone took turns adding in fun facts about being a werewolf.
"So when vampires came to town you all transformed?" They all nodded.
"Sorry." I mumbled.
"Are you kidding? This is the most fun I've ever had!" Seth said. Everyone laughed; Embry dug Seth's face into the ground.
"So Leah; you're the only girl wolf in history?" I asked stunned.
"Yes." She said smugly.
"That's so cool. You must be pretty tough." She winced in response. I smiled at her trying to be nice.
I watched Leah as the boys told me stories from their adventures. When Embry told me about a battle when Jacob saved Leah I saw pain flicker across her face. I leaned into Jacob he wrapped his arm around my waist. When they described the battles they had been in I heard the excitement in their voices. I wasn't a big fan of violence myself. These wolves were nothing but teens. Some younger than me.
