Speaking of, I've never understood why Chris was even involved in the Josh's "game" considered he was passed out drunk at the time everything went down on their first visit.

The really sad thing is, this is probably exactly how it would play out anyway. Chris has been with Josh since... when was it... third grade? so he's been through EVERYTHING with him. So Chris has been through the entire rollercoaster that is Josh's mental health decline, he's been through the therapies, the medication changes, the ups, and downs, right by his side. Chris is the friend that everyone wants to have during a mental decline cuz he stuck around. He was probably right there at Hannah and Beth's funeral, right by Josh's side through every second of it, Chris probably even did Josh's homework when his mental state wouldn't let him. Josh thought he was genuinely helping Chris open up to Ashley when he did all these things while getting revenge on Ashley for being a part of what he believed his sisters, and Chris, sweet, kind Chris, would yes, be angry at the state for putting him through that mental trauma and for risking Ashley's life, but he's probably seen this sort of behaviour in Josh before as he's been his best friend for SO LONG, so Chris would without a doubt, still forgive him, and would probably help the others through forgiving him too, helping them understand what Josh goes through mentally, and how they can help him while forgiving him. After all, Josh never meant anyone any harm. He just wanted to play a prank. Heck, Chris probably helped him pick out which mask to wear without actually understanding or knowing what it would be used for. I thoroughly believe that Josh does love Chris like a brother, if not homosexual, and Josh would really appreciate everything Chris has ever done for him, he just went the wrong way to go by helping him in return.
I thoroughly believe that as soon as Mike admits that the Wendigo took Josh and he was still alive, Chris tried to go get him and was probably restrained by medical officers, cops... Mike even and was made to abandon his brother, his friend for too long.
