Description In the end I decided I didn't have the patience today to do a water marble, so I chose to use my black crackle paint instead. However I will definitely be doing this design again sometime with the black and clear water marble... So if you were looking forward to seeing that, watch this space!!!

Polishes used:

Claire's Accessories Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue & Purple
Claire's Silver Holographic Strands
Barry M Black Crackle

I do like crackle polish, but it always feels as though i'm somehow cheating... xD

If it's cheating, stores shouldn't sell it.

I guess

To be perfectly honest the only reason I used it on this design is because I was being too lazy to do a water marble. As it is, i'm probably doing one today =]

Lol

Oh yeah, I remember you wrote that. I'll be looking forward to it. I still can't get water marbling to work for me. I need to try different brands. So more shopping for me.

You will find that some brands work better than others =]

It's mostly a case of trial and error really. I know that China Glaze is meant to be pretty good for water marbling, but they've also got a fairly hefty price tag =/

I don't think I've seen that brand around here. =/ I heard Sally Hansen works but haven't tried it yet.

Sally Hansen stuff is pretty good. I've got nail varnish remover of hers =]

Yesterday I bought Sally Hansen base coat and top coat. It's so much better than the brand I used to use. It actually dries in 30 seconds like it says it would. =O

The only Sally Hansen polish I have is the "Diamond Strength" one. I bought it at the time because my nails were terrible. Constantly snapping splitting and generally giving me trouble!!
I spent £7.50 on it thinking "This better be good at this price!"
And as much as I could tell, it did nothing! I use it as a Topcoat now lol.

Seriously? D8 Although after a week of using the new base and top coats I've bought, I'm not surprised. My nails are still peeling and the polish still chips easily. lol

That's why unfortunately it pays to fork out for the expensive stuff =/

I have a certain set I use for my marbles, and so long as I use a top coat they always seem to turn out fine =]

(but to be fair my nails are never one way more than a week anyway xD)

It's better than nothing, but for $14 I wanted it to work better.

LOL I don't have time to do my nails during the week, so they have to last until the weekend. The Sally Hansen top coat's supposed to last two weeks, but started cracking at four days. =/

What you can try doing is adding another layer of topcoat every couple of days. Extra protection as it were =]
