So.... okay, technically this ISN'T a commission, but an art trade! An art trade with the ever kind and talented :touchedvenus:, who is truly one of the most dedicated members of the online art community I've ever met! This is her OC and protagonist of her original story, Sapphrine!
This piece gave me a little bit of trouble. First I had a hard time coming up with a pose, and once I had that figured out (much thanks to my wife *rainbowpunk10 ) the colouring went pretty smoothly. But then the background had me screeching to a halt. I originally was going to do a Mucha-inspired background with tick borders and arches, but I just couldn't get the composition right. Tonight, I scrapped the background and started from scratch with colour harmonies. Sapphrine's whip was the most prominent thing in foreground, which was orange and yellow, so I started with a indigo background and worked my way up from there, layering on textures and brushes and trying different compositions. Just as dinner was being finished, I figures it out!
She looks pretty good if I do say so myself, but it still PALES in comparison to the beautiful piece that Venus did for me. I AM SO SORRY I DON'T HAVE YOUR NINJA PAINTING SKILLZ TV!! ;_____; *grovels*
