Description It's been a while since the last time I submitted something, school's been taking up most of my time.
Anyway, I wanted to see if I could do a watercolor painting without color pencils. I'm satisfied, though I'm not sure about the anatomy (again ;; ).
Well, feel free to speak your mind, I hope you have a lovely day!

Hi! I'm from and was going to attempt a quick critique of your painting. Haven't done this in a long while so, hope it goes well.

First, I love the face/head/hair. I think these are well done. I think the features of face and strands of hair are fleshed out well. Like the facial expression/grin. Maybe stay away from black paint if you can as it dulls your colors. One thing throwing me off though is what I'm guessing is the shadow of the head on the shirt. It doesn't read to me like a shadow but as a blue blob....like he spilled a blue liquid on his shirt under his head. Maybe try a different color other than blue for that shadow? The shirt itself looks nice if not hastily done, but, you state in the title that it's a quick painting, so, that's understandable. The pose of his body seems a bit stiff or awkward. Maybe loosen joints and create a more relaxed pose? Not terrible, by any stretch, just something I noticed. Hands are ok. Grey shadows on fingers don't look quite right...again...maybe stay away from the blacks and greys as they dull flesh? Pants look good. A little less fleshed out, but, again, this was a quick painting, so, that makes sense. Overall, I think the painting, for a quick one, is quit successful! Wonderful looking character! Great practice. Hope I helped! Cheers!

Hi! Thank you very much for your critique!
I really had some trouble drawing the pose and figuring out the colors I'd shade this painting with. The shadows on the hands are actually a very dark, desatured blue (they probably look grey because I used orange hues to paint the first skin layer), but I think a brown/orange/red color would fit them better.
Anyway, I'm glad you liked it, you've certainly helped me!

Thank you!
I believe it's more about practice rather than talent, I still have a long way to go. I'm pretty sure that you can make amazing artworks as well!

An artist I hold in very high regard used to say of the relation between practice and talent, that artistic progress is a marathon: Some obviously have better starting conditions than others, but all still have to run and run the same distance to finish.

Indeed; I agree.

Hi!!!! I'm from

I really love the face, and the tones there look great! The overall color scheme also compliments each other well too. The shading/lighting looks pretty great and there is a clear light source. The pose; however, looks a bit stiff (idk how to fix that really, but I think more practice would help). The folds in the cloth follow the implied movement really well, but the shirt doesn't really look like its hanging over the pants if that makes sense. I think the edges just need a little bit more definition. The hands look sloppy, but in the title, it indicates this was a quick painting, so it's understandable. The anatomy of the hands is a little off and that can be fixed with more practice too. Although the shading on the face looks nice, it is a little bit bland and like it was done in one color (sorry if this is confusing) maybe adding some reds would help and also bring more attention to the face. The intensity of the shading on the face also doesn't really match up with the clothing shading.

Overall this looks really awesome for a quick painting, but this is just advice if you wanted a completed painting. Hope this is helpful!!!

Hi! Thank you very much for your comment!

Indeed I need to practice some anatomy, I’ll work on it. About the shading on the face, I was thinking about shading it with a blue/purple color, but I ended up giving up and going for this dark brown instead. I’ve also tried adding some reds to the cheeks; however I think they turned out too washed out. Looking back on it now, I believe I would define the shading and the edges on the clothes a little more as well.

Again, thank you. I’ll keep what you said in mind !
