I was really looking forward to drawing this one, because the profile is different from what I usually draw! I absolutely loved the reference photo and couldn't wait to get started.Cory Monteith, plays Finn Hudson on Glee.
Pencils used: ContΓ© Criterium 550 HB, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B and 6B.

Absolutely amazing drawing! I've been trying to start drawing people- just wondering, where do you start in drawing it? (face, mouth etc)

I start by drawing all of the outlines, so I can at least be sure that the proportions of the entire portrait are correct before spending too much time on it. I know it's difficult to freehand it, so you might want to use a lightbox or a technique called a 'grid' to do the proportions.
When the outlines are done, I have the easy rule of working from top to bottom, left to right.. I'm right handed, so this prevents me from smudging my work.

I always use photo references, I don't have the ability to remember someone's face that accurately, haha!
