[TUMBLR] [INSTAGRAM]Happy New Year!!
Kicking it off with a new Faust painting~ This one is kind of a repaint of an oil painting I did in college with a similar concept; Faust surrounded by various life symbolism, flowers, blood, fire, etc., but I altered the concept to include some death imagery and symbols with double meanings. (The title is a from particular memento mori/vanitas tradition which means "Thus Passes the Glory of the World") I'm planning a companion piece of Mephistopheles with inverted symbolism too. I may actually do some holographic prints of this one next time I do a print run. Detail shots in the tumblr and instagram posts~
And here's hoping this year treats us all better~

Everything about this painting is perfection. I have been staring at it for like...Fifteen minutes now? I love it. I wanna cry. It's like...one of those moments you see something so beautiful that all you can do it kneel before it an cry in adoration.

Faust himself is handsome, but I think my favorite detail is the crow eating the pomegranate seeds as they fall; like death consuming life. Well, that's what came to mind when I saw it, anyways.
