This is great as it is because the focus is entirely in the faces, it gives an intimate feeling, like he has discovered something so great that everything else just blurs and he starts dropping the sword. And that contrast between the vibrant reds and those greenish cold blues...

This looks amazing not clean, I think it would make it look a bit too stiff if you were to clean it up, especially with the clothes/fur and all.
But Young North!! I'm planning on reading these books after I finish reading the Arabian Nights
