Did you get an impression how numerous those shrines are? Like, is comparable to european churches? I'd say we have at least 5 churches, a hinduist temple and probably one or two ad-libbed mosques within 15-20 minutes of walking...

I don't know how much shrines there is. Probably hundreds, if you count the little shrines you can find here and there and who are not bigger than a big box.
But every 5 minutes of walking, or even less depending th area, I think you might be able to find a shinto or a buddhist shrine.
