Description The TIX-60 Quetzal is a Mexican single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft designed by Hydra Technologies for the Fuerza Aérea Mexicana (FAM). It was privately funded by Hydra Technologies from 1962-1971 which the Mexican Ministry of Defense would then fund it in 1972-1973. It entered service in 1973, beating the F-16 to service, although only 11 Hydra of them were in service from 1973-1974 before entering mass production in 1975. In role and size it was comparable to the F-16 and MiG-29. In 1983, Avioción Militar Nacional Bolivariana (AMNB) would purchase 30 of them instead of buying the F-16 as they did in our universe, the reason they chose the TIX-60 over the F-16 is due to its lower price and comparable performance, in some cases it actually was better than the F-16.
