Description Teach me how to live
inside a poem.
I would give
anything to be broken down by it, make it my home.
Show me how to more than survive
in this world of give and take,
but to truly thrive
before I am bent so far I break.
Pull me out
of the muck and the mire
where I can scream and shout
to the Heavens until Hell sets my lungs on fire
with the fury
of wasted days and nights
asleep, trying to hurry
awake from the fights
of my dream world, caught
against a wall
of anger, unhappy with my lot
in life, that I am living to die, flying to fall.
If I scream loudly enough, will
the words catch me?  Hold
me inside them until
every last bit of me is sold
into the slavery of words flying
through paper and ink
like a baby dragon, trying
to discover his wings.  Can I sink
into the oblivion of words and live
there, inside the poem?
I would give
anything to be broken down by it, make it my home.
