Description Colored version. The inked version was submitted to my scraps gallery... which, for some asinine reason, MAGICALLY isn't there. Jerk.
EDIT: It MAGICALLY appeared: [link]

I'm playing around with how I may or may not be coloring Jagger Village. It might be one of those that have a colored page every so often but mostly black and white. It was a pain and a half in the ass to color this mofo. It's not even colored good because I SUCK with photoshop. I'm allowed to say that I suck and you aren't, otherwise I'd beat you with my BOLD TEXT'D INSULTING WORDS. Anyways, I guess it's not completely terrible for somebody who doesn't have a tablet (I shall put in the good word for Christmas) AND never ever uses photoshop. If computer programs collected dust it would have many dust rhinos feverishly making love to it. But the point is that I have some stuff to work on. I just recently discovered the magic wand tool, which is why I'm coloring this on photoshop. I'd ask for tips... but we all know I wouldn't understand what the hell you're saying.
Also, my adobe doesn't have the fill/paintbucket tool. Bastard.

Anyways, here is a sample of page one. I had started it before but I really didn't like the beginning so I meditated many moons on it and re-wrote! I finished this in one day... but it isn't finished because I've yet to figure out how to plug in speech bubbles. Shut up, I'm new, shut up.
Scotti is supposed to be opening this page up with saying something like "Hi, I'm Scotti, blah blah, you're probably wondering how I went from this to this blah blah yadda yadda" or something. I'll... figure something out. Somethingsomething.

So this is me, Lisa, signing off from being stuck to the compy all friggin' evening. GOOD NIGHT!

Miss, did you use the levels tool?

If not then HOW DID YOU MAKE THAT SO WONDERFULL!? See, I hear about artists using the levels tool all the time, but I could never figure it out.

I don't really know what the levels tool is. What I did was multiply the layers... or... something like that so that when I colored it wouldn't go over the lines.

Yeah I'm terrible with explaining computer stuff.

HM.

See, I can't ever get it so that the background stays seperate, and that the coloring you do on one dosen't effect all the other layers.

Atleast, I think thats how it works.

Okay, I went back and figured out what I did. I opened the picture, went to "Layer" at the top and selected "duplicate layer" (as background copy, whatever you want to name it). Then for the background copy at the right hand side you can select it as "multipy" and for some reason when you do that you can color behind the lines on the whole image. I figured that out by just clicking on random buttons one day.

Just one question: Which did she start off as?
Anyway, your colouring looks great, simplicity is nice.

She started off as the one on your left. I won't go into heavy detail, but basically before Scotti moved to Jagger Village she grew up in a very conservative 50's-esque suburbia. And then her mind was "corrupted", or something... yeah, I still have stuff to figure out, lol.

I'm amazed and jealous .
If I can give you advice with the coloring- just do it as you wish. Sometimes comic looks batter if you do colour pages and b&w pages. You said before that there will be some episodical characters. So, if a character will show more than one time, you could do a colorfull site, when the character will show up first time. Ya know what I mean? Okay, okay I'm shutting up- I'm starting to "wabble babble"... ya know- those fricking hamsters are again eating my brain X_x

The hamsters, man. Avoid them. They're no good for you.

That's a cause for pause. *Does so* And I like that idea. Basically I was thinking of coloring the pages I spent the most time on and intend on coloring. Coloring the ones that have a guest character in it (at least for their first appearance) would certainly work out really well, especially if you want to be able to tell what their markings are like. It would be hard to have it 100% black and white if you have a character that is recognized mainly for their colors.

What that other person said about the gradient fill tool hiding the paintbucket. Plus, if you press ctrl + backspace it fills it with the foreground colour, or ctrl + del for the background? Or maybe it's alt + backspace. Anyway. I might have them backwards. But it's handy.

OMGWTFOHGOD. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS COMIC. SOOO EXCITED.

Scotti? Scotti looks SEXAH in both outfits! AAUUGH SO EXCITED! I can't wait to see more!

(Also, if you want someone to colour the pages for you, I could do that. I don't promise anything fancy, but simple flat colours and shading I could do. Just putting out there, in case you wanted.)

*SQUEE*

Mind if I ask what version of Photoshop you have? Because, if I'm not mistaken, if you scroll over each of the little tools and let the alt text come up to tell you what they are, there's a gradient fill tool (one with a box with a colour fading from light to dark) and if you click it (or in the case of Photoshop CS2 click and hold) a menu will pop up and allow you to pick out bucket fill.

Also, I'm very fond of the "select color range" tool. It's under the select menu. Play with that and see if you don't grow fond of it.

One more thing you might want to play with is the "levels" tool. I don't have Photoshop open right now, and loading it is a BITCH on my computer, so I can't tell you exactly where levels... is. But... you might find it handy if you can find it. xD

Just play around with the things in Photoshop, you may find that it has some awesome features. I just found the "expand", "contract", and "smooth" tools under select, and I'll tell you what... I love them! <3

YOU DID WELL ANYWAY. Sorry for blabbing on, I just figured I might try to help. I probably didn't help much, but... you know. xD;;;

I have Adobe Photoshop CS2. AND YOU ARE AMAZING because I just found the little bucket tool.

Yeah, see? That's how much of a novice I am with Photoshop, lol.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to continue playing around with it and seez what I can come up with.

Heh, yeah, CS2 is evil. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me when I first got it, and I was "decent" at Photoshop CS. You'll find some really cool stuff though. Just remember, there are little arrows on some of the tool buttons that you can do more things with that tool. <3
