Description Heheh did this cause I was on a nostalgic sci-fi kick lately, watching old shows like Buzz Lightyear of Star command, Teenage robot and the like.

As anyone of you know, 's meme states 'Robotic characters', which means, not only Robots, but also Cyborgs and computer viruses etc may count. Also made this meme cause I'll always be an early to mid 2000s gal when it comes to the Disney channel and rewatching Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, XR is now my fave male Disney Channel character tied with Lloyd Nebulon (Lloyd in Space), though I do love all the members of Team Lightyear for different reasons.

Ah Robotic characters, so many opportunities in Sci-fi have them be heroic companions to BIG time hero protagonists/saviours of a planet, interesting 3-dimensional characters with riveting backstories or downright terrifying villains out to enslave mankind. Here we have my top 16 (20 in total if you count the extras in some entries) Robotic characters, not in any order:

- Baymax (Big Hero 6): The first Disney bot on the list, but not the last, Baymax is one of the most creative bots I've seen in the media in ages (and perhaps the most cuddly on this list, though I'd consider the next contender on my list and the latest member of the Star Wars trio as that too lol). Taking concepts from JApanese nursing bots, the late Tadashi's creation is perhaps the most memorable character of the film and his bond with Hiro is just lovely to watch. Plus the idea of

-XR (Buzz Lightyear of Star Command), Aforementioned in my comments above, you know this was coming. While many fans of the series have the energy vampire NOS-4-A2 (Who is an awesome villain I will say and one of my fave robot villains next to Vexus) as their fave robot of the series, my heart belongs to the little robo-rascal of Team Lightyear, the eXperimental Ranger himself, XR. Originally built to be a replacement team member for Buzz after his former partner supposedly perished, XR started off as the typical robot, built to be the perfect heroic ranger and deadly killing machine (DON'T let his small size fool you, he packs a TON of stuff (not just his weapons like guns) in that tiny little body). After a disastrous first round on the battlefield and theft of the Little Green Men's source of power when Zurg attacked their planet, the little guy was put together.......in a different way, developing his own free will and personality- with some...interesting human flaws to boot. Now while I DO agree that XR in a way is Disney's answer to a CERTAIN beer drinking bot who is also on this list (with his love of gambling and ladies and such and the fact he messes up at times, plus the fact he hates it when robots get treated unfairly), he has several things in his personality prevent him from being like said upcoming adult cartoon robot. Despite being snarky and neurotic such, at least he mostly admits when he's in the wrong, respects organic life forms, never switched alliances, and, being a space ranger most of his flaws stem from childish immaturity as opposed to being a full-on bad boy/criminal. He still has what it takes to save the day and will pull out a big whoop with those blasters. And he even managed to prove himself useful in certain missions. Plus, he's funny and adorable in his own little way and I think his hilarious crush on Mira and friendship with Booster is cute <3 XR is also PROOF you can write a sort-of expy of another character while making him/her his/her OWN CHARACTER and I love that.
Also, he and his evil prototype XL (one of the reoccuring villains in the Buzz lightyear series) are the ONLY robots I know with heads that resemble Doug TanNapel (creator of Earthworm Jim and the Neverhood) characters, which is awesome in my book.

-XJ9/Jenny (My Life as a Teeange Robot), Weird part of the internet aside, sadly this cartoon has always been in the shadow of CN's PPG and Nick's Spongebob and Fairly OddParents. Nothing against the CN toon as its one of my childhood favourites and I do like the 3 bug eyed girls in their own right (my Duskville character Olivia has shades of Bubbles in her personality as proof of that)....but.... (I'm probably going to get a lot of stones thrown at me for this)...I've always liked Jenny a tad more.....I KNOW she can be 'the typical teenager, but honestly, with the way the people treat robots in the series (read: miniority equivalents) I honestly am surprised she still stuck around. I do say she has a good heart and I love the fact that she is a good mix of feminine and tomboy, something that not too many heroines do these days. Also, like XR, she's another robot on the list who has a TON of stuff built into her for multi-use (NOT just weapons, but everyday stuff)- and it goes exceptionally well with the 1920s scifi Art Deco style and theme this show has. Plus I ADORE the 'Escape from Cluster Prime special.

-Alita (Alita Battle Angel) Move aside Carol Denvers, ALITA is my go to action gal of 2019. If Jenny's tale was allowed to take a darker turn, it would be similar to Alita's in a way. Both the cyborg and the robot have the mind of teenage girls, both have that experience of falling in love (and it ends in tragedy), both are kickass, yet kindhearted warriors. Also Both gals have good child-parent relationships with their creators (though Alita has a much stronger bond with Dr Ido from the star compared to Jenny's with Ms Wakeman, who grew to love her as a child rather than a machine as the series went on).

-Bumblebee (Transformers franchise) Whether its the old 80s series or his own spinoff movie (and the only Michael Bay film I enjoyed tbh), Bumblebee is a huge fanfave of the Autobots and its not hard to see why. He is a kid-appeal character done right and I do love how he looks up to Optimus Prime.

-Phobos (Darkstalkers franchise) The first of the Neutral-themed as opposed to heroic robotic characters on my list, my reasons for liking Phobos can be seen in my top 10 Darkstalkers meme here: Top 10 Darkstalkers Characters by MelanieDirge on DeviantArt

-Bender (Futurama) Ah Bender, the hilarious magnificent b***ard and the one who popularized the trend of raunchy robots in adult media in the 2000s and beyond. Yes, I say he's more a hilarious (yet likable) magnificent b***ard than a lovable rascal (the latter title would preferably go to XR, who is often compared to him). One of the most memorable characters voiced by John Dimaggio, Futurama's most iconic character, while not a villain, is pretty much not a nice guy. I mean dude basically dreams of killing all humans (yes I know humans treat robots unfairly, but its not like the nicest thing to think about), smokes, constantly steals, beats up a kid in the tale of 2 santas Christmas episode and even at one point sold his son to the robot devil (whom which he even considered too evil by his standards).....yet he makes up for it for being empathetic towards others he relates to at times and even was able to sacrifice himself at times to make his friends happy (ESPECIALLY Fry). Plus I will never stop laughing at some of his antics (ESPECIALLY his escapades with femmebots lol) or lines.

-Buzz and Delete (Cyberchase) OH this show. THIS show I used to watch alongside my brother when he was little. It may be the typical PBS show, but it was one of the better ones in my book. Digit the boid (a robot bird voiced by Gilbert Gottfried) was awesome to hear, plus Christopher Lloyd as the villain Hacker (Ooops, I mean THE Hacker lol) was awesome. But in all honesty my hearts go to the Hacker's 2 dorky henchmen- Buzz and Delete. If you guys know me, I do like the dorky henchmen trope- and these 2 guys are no exception. I love how Buzz's rude attitude plays off Delete's softer cuter (well cute personality for a villain henchman that is) personality and all the antics these 2 get into while helping Hacker or not. The fact these 2 little virus bots actually resemble a one and zero make it all the more better (now that I think about it, they actually remind me of the bots from Mainframe, where a certain virus villainess on this list ALSO resides....)

-N.Gin (Crash Bandicoot franchise) I love the Spyro and Crash bandicoot franchises equally. BUT if there is one thing the Crash franchise has over Spyro, ITS THE VILLAINS. And this crazy cyborg Mad Scientist is no exception. Dr Nitro Gin (Ha!) used to be a regular scientist in the evil academy till an accident cause a missile to be launched into his head....and now he is on life support, but at a cost of his sanity.....man that is kinda sad. But what puts him up here are the fact that he is such a joy to watch when being all up with his giant robot boss fights in the N Sane Trilogy. And as much as I'm not a fan of the mind over mutant games from what I see, he's still funny there. Now I haven't played 4 yet, but I hope that his boss fights are going to be as epic as the N sane trilogy's.

T-1000 (Terminator 2: Judgement day) While I do love Arnold Schwarzenegger as the OG Terminator and his role as a hero in this film.....The T-1000 is the cyborg who makes this list for me mainly for his creepy factor and sheer creativity. In fact he's the first movie villain I know next to Mombi from Return to Oz to actually SCARE me (yes I had the ....fortunate? incident of watching it with my parents at age 6, the same age I saw Return to Oz....)  -and that also includes his *SPOILER* death in the molten metal at the end of the film *End Spoiler*

C3PO, R2D2 and BB8 (Star Wars Franchise) A trio of robots who need no introduction, especially the former 2. I may not be the biggest Star Wars fan, but the OG trilogy is a classic. I DO love these guys and some of the alien species in this verse created by George Lucas. I always loved how C3PO and R2 got into arguments yet still respected each other in a way lol. As much as I don't care for the sequel trilogy, there are a couple of factors I Do like- and little BB8 was one of them. I could care less about Rey or Kylo and all that stuff, but little BB8 and his interactions with R2 are always adorable <3.

The Iron Giant (The Iron Giant) Just ask ANYONE who has seen this film why this huge 50 ft robot is the heart of the film. I don't need to explain any further. If you guys haven't seen the film, I suggest you watch it....the climax still makes me tear up.

Andromon (Digimon Franchise) Personally I do love a lot of digimon that have some robotic themes in them one way or the other. BUT seeing as this list requires really robotic characters like cyborgs and such, while Metalgarurumon was a contender and I DO love him a lot....I settled with Andromon for this list. While he is a vaccine digimon and has helped the heroes in Adventure (the first season) after they removed the black gear from him and in Adventure 02 when he recognised Tai (which stopped him from being brainwashed), I do also enjoy him in a more antagonistic role (his fight with Mimi's Lillimon was one of the epic highlights in the 2020 reboot, bringing out an awesome nature vs tech theme).

Clank (Ratchet and Clank) The little sidekick of the feline alien Ratchet who is intelligent as he is naive. He provides a good contrast to Ratchet's snarky and somewhat independent (Then again he's a cat alien aka a Lombax, I expect that lol) nature and proves to be useful when not just being a mechanical backpack. Who would have thought this little guy would eventually star in his own game, Secret Agent Clank lol.

Wall-E and EVE (Wall-E) Oh one of Pixar's best works next to Inside Out and Up. How could I not love the little romance between Wall-E the old school compactor trash bot with a big heart and childlike personality and the sleek but eventually caring tsundere (if you could call her that Lol) Space Age hoverbot EVE? I think nearly everyone I know has seen this film by  now, so I won't have to describe why I adore these 2- as characters AND as a couple.

Hexadecimal (Reboot, 1996) A computer virus who considers herself the Queen of Chaos- and LIVES to her title. Hex is another robotic/cyber character who actually freaked me out during my childhood (Go look up some clips of her, you could imagine 8 year old me being FREAKED out by her....constant mood changes determined by eratic face switches....that compiled with early CGI made her a very memorable....and creepy villain, but still she was awesome). But what puts her up here is that she undergoes an interesting change in the show's long run where she slowly becomes less of a female dog and eventually *SPOILER ALERT* Sacrifices herself....
As for a the Netflix reboot of the series? It would be interesting seeing her as a villain again but I'm not sure how they'd handle her or the other characters despite the CGI improvements.

Honorable mentions:
-Rosie (The Jetsons)
-A HUGE majority of the Robots that aided the Super Sentai/Power Ranger heroes, both Megazord and assistant.
- NOS-4-A2 and XL (Buzz Lightyear of Star Command)
- Vexus, Vega and the XJ-sisters (My Life as a Teeange Robot)
-The transformers bots and their equivalents (ESPECIALLY Beast Wars) (c) Transformers franchise
-Dr Nefarious and Courtney Gears (Ratchet and Clank 3, the latter mainly for her earworm of a villain song, which would make NOS' and Vexus' songlist: Courtney Gears - Death To Squishies (HD) Music Video "Official" - YouTube
-GIR (Invader Zim. Even if he DID start the trend of random-humoured characters getting away with things as pointed out, I still can't help but like the little guy)
