Description So, here's the deal: basically I figured out that, since leather costs a LOT (just spent 100 gold on a piece of calf skin), I'll make small books to test new techniques and bindings. This one here is a miniature quatro book, measuring around 3 x 4 cm 1 cm thick. Sewing, paper\leather dyed by hand, endbands prepared by me etc. quality CANSON paper (these guys 'r making paper for the last 400 years). The 'case' is made of cardboard\leather and dyed paper.

Also, just got sold got 50 gold for it~!

Humm... dunno 'bout relaible, it was one consumer, the remaining books pile up somewhere in my room xD

And thankyou, thus far the hardest part for me was the leather cover, that is, leather tends to behave differently based on the size and stuff.

Congrats on the sale! And leather's only expensive if you're buying binding leather since it's so thin and delicate. If you just buy some regular kidskin (usually around 0.8mm) and pare the edges, it wont be so expensive ^__^

Man I love the decoration you put on the covers of your books, it gives it such an authentic feel. This one is absolutely adorable - minitures always are.

Meliadhor In reply to versarnwen [2009-10-19 15:05:15 +0000 UTC]

Ah, only if you do get to buy binding leather. Here (I live in the capital city of me country) even the regular stuff be COSTLY; as in - faux leather can, n some shops cost MORE than the real stuff. Well, happens. Plus, art supplies and related have a 22% VAT tax on 'em. Life's tough >.>

Aaaand, as far as it goes those books are 'authentic'! You can use 'em after all~!

"these stuffs in your deviants. Mind telling me what these are for?"

What do you mean here?

Meliadhor In reply to FalconMage [2009-10-10 10:44:39 +0000 UTC]

They're for writing down the souls of all those that were close to you.

FalconMage In reply to Meliadhor [2009-10-10 15:08:05 +0000 UTC]

*growls at you*

Getting on my nerves... a lot...

Anyway, real question.
So, basically, it's a hand made tiny book that you can write in it? You made them by yourself?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Meliadhor In reply to FalconMage [2009-10-10 19:16:25 +0000 UTC]

1. "Getting on my nerves... a lot..."

Past time reference, ie.
"what are those small little books for?"
answer:
"They're for writing down the souls of all those that were (past time ref, ie. the people that USED to be close and DID hurt YOU) close to you."
Meaning:
You (general, nonpersonal you) buy the books for trapping people's souls.

2. "So, basically, it's a hand made tiny book that you can write in it? You made them by yourself?"

Heh, now I know how dra felt when she got asked "who drew this stuff? *points @dra's picture*" Weiiiird feeling xD

So, yes. Jst like I stated in deviation description "Sewing, paper\leather dyed by hand, endbands prepared by me etc." and YES, they're FULLY USABLE. You can write, draw, paint etc INSIDE.

FalconMage In reply to Meliadhor [2009-10-12 01:33:06 +0000 UTC]

But... it's so small... like... tiny.. what do you use to get anything down in that book?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Meliadhor In reply to FalconMage [2009-10-18 19:59:53 +0000 UTC]

Umm... depends. The paper is of fine quality so it can be written on with mechanic pencils, pens or even fountainpens or quills as long as one's hands are steady enough. :3

You can also try blood, though it gets full o' clots waaay too fast.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FalconMage In reply to Meliadhor [2009-10-20 14:58:06 +0000 UTC]

But the book is so small... why would any one wants to have such a small book? Souvenuir, perhaps?

Meliadhor In reply to FalconMage [2009-10-20 15:13:10 +0000 UTC]

Or something small and easy to hide for the purpose of writing down passwords and keys for mechanical programmes. Come on, yer a smart little fellah, think out some purposes!

I didn't get enough credits for my finals. My average was at 59% during that time. I was given a second warning already but I couldn't fulfill the requirement. The requirement was 65%... I keep getting under 65%... it's very hard when degree started. Next year is my final year in college.
