Annyeonghaseyo! May is where we celebrate Asian Heritage Month! In this pic, our main heroine, Missy Kim, takes the spotlight!

Like I mentioned in previous deviations, Missy is Korean. She was born in South Korea as Mi-yeon Kim, but her parents moved to America for job reasons. She has a strong bond with her Korean culture and heritage, but she's also into other types of East and Southeast Asian culture (Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, etc). Even some of her friends are Asian in the Milkyverse.

South Korea is located in East Asia (it's also part of the Sinosphere, that consists of Japan, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam). Its capital is Seoul. This country is well-known for its K-pop music, as well as the K-dramas and its delicious gastronomy (like the dakgangjeong and kimchi), and its marvelous ancient culture. There are also Korean cartoons like Pororo the Little Penguin and Flowering Heart. However, there has also been Korean characters in American cartoons, like Chloe Park from We Bare Bears, or Candy Chiu from Gravity Falls. The Cartoon Network show, We Bare Bears, also shows many references to South Korea, like Panda's love fo K-Pop music, and Polar's abilities to speak Korean and cook Korean food! ^^

The dress Missy is wearing is a hanbok. It's a traditional dress that many people in Korea wear. It is used on weddings and birthdays (many Korean kids wear it on their 1st birthday), as well as Korean festivities such as Chuseok.
