She also said to Barbie to be careful and call home in an emergency.

"I'm very proud of you!" she said at the end.

"What?" Chris asked.

"You're a very brave girl for having courage to be who you are. Never let anyone say the opposite and remember that I will always be by your side."

Chris knew that it wasn't true. He didn't want to be a girl and none of it had been his idea. Still, he felt very happy, because for the first time his mother was showing some love for him.

"Thanks, Mom," he said, with tears in his eyes.
