I was originally trying to draw an alien giraffe because the antlers are kind of like alien antennas.
I think by the end i thought it looked more like nessie so i drew it sitting in water.

Now i have the urge to just go all mythical and research draw other mythical creatures. but animals are pretty hard for me to draw tbh, I can never quite get the body right. It's a good thing this is so cartoonish/stylized, really.

argh me too!! I am terrible at drawing animals >.< I miss how DA used to be years ago but now it's all "closed species" (why claim a species as your own most of the time it's just combining 2 animals D: ) and MLP. Don't get me wrong I do like these but it's hard to make friends with people you can't really draw with =.=;

I see your point, I do remember how deviant used to be so different. So many professional artists I've looked up to over the years have left or don't update and I feel like deviant is less of a site for the profession of art now and more of a fan service site, not to bash fandoms at all and doing art purely for fun does NOT make it any less amazing, for sure. Just wonder if it's going to keep going in that direction, you know? I mean, not being mutually exclusive anymore, maybe pandoming (pandering to fandom) has because it's own profession, I know I've been guilty of it.
