Description HA 355: Art & Architecture of Ancient Egypt

this is my hieroglyph assignment for this class had to transliterate my name and draw something so I decided to paint a self-portrait of myself playing the lute so it looks more interesting than just my name

this is the first painting i've done since last august XD feels like my skills are lacking big time...kinda sad -_-"

but I guess this looks alright

Lucky you took a college level Ancient Egypt class. The colors are nice and I like the theme, however I would have placed the hieroglyphs above the lute horizontal. I also would have added a bit more detail, although this seems to be a speed painting.

haha thanks~ I put a few instances of my transliterated name vertically~ I guess it depends on the artist's own thoughts and feelings at the time where they put stuff

but yea I did it in about an hour >_< it was due soon and I still had to write a paper about it haha

Indeed. You are welcome. So you enjoyed that class? You must have learned a lot about Hypostyle Architecture. Even with my skill I observe some of the surviving Art fragments of Ancient Egypt with awe.
I figured that was speed painting, even though I have not had to paint that fast in a while. Not bad for a hour round.

We focused a lot on tomb structures and didn't spend as much time on Hypostyle architecture the tombs, burial structures and temples are really interesting in itself! Also the town structures of the villages set up near the construction of the pyramids to house the workers! really amazing

That kind of sounds like an Etruscan Art class I took some time ago.We focused on tombs and the Lifestyle.I kind of know about the town house structures for the workers.I believe I have seen a documentary about excavations done in Northern Egypt where a Town of just Ancient Artisans was found. I can't remember the name of the city at this moment...
Say, I tried to send the message and my Yahoo says that kao elaine@ hotmail does not exist. I would have tried to use that link on your page first except my computer does not respond well to direct mail links in that format. I'm not all that computer suave... anywhere else I can mail you?

Interesting, it looks the part as as well. There's just one thing I have to criticise though, you submitted it to the wrong folder in 6DD. Try the Traditional Art folder.

BTW, I really like this.
