Description This is a photo I took on the Manchester skywalk, after a really long journey, all I wanted was to go pick up the car, but I couldn't resist stopping to take the picture of the amazing lights and no people running around - the first plane delay that seemed useful

i've been in this airport!i too had a reeeally late flight and it was lit up and really cool looking.

I still own my Finepix 5200 (VERY similar to your 5000) and I can honestly say that I'm impressed with the way you've been able to capture the colours here!
The symmetry is spot on and, I'll say it once again, the colours are fantastic!
I have only two criticisms...

1) Straighten it! As ~Redandwhite said, you can still straighten it in photoshop and have it remain a "virgin" photo. I don't know of a single professional photographer (including myself) who doesn't straighten the pics, even if it's just the tiniest amount!
2) It needs to be bigger to take in all of the shiny gorgeousness! It's just too pretty to be so small!

Still, it's a gorgeous shot!

yea you are absolutely right! The only thing is that this series of shots is on my other pc so I'm always saying I have to go get the rest so I do the adjustments and also post a larger version...

Symmetry work is exceptional, and the colours are really good! It's almost like you played with the White balance to get this extreme blue effect.

My only complaint is that it isn't perfectly straight...

actually there's not much play with white balance, it was taken with the fuji s 5000 so it was set on auto (you can't really customise much with that fuji, but it served it's purpose). This skyline is quite amazing, if you go at night that's exactly what you would see.

Well spotted on the "not perfectly straight", the picture was taken without a tripod - and to tell you the truth I only went in photoshop for the size, nothing else, I kind of wanted it to be photoshopless, I think it's my only "virgin" photo...

Haha but you can easily straighten it and still say it's a "virgin" photo, as you could easily do the same thing with a print without even looking at the darkroom, just straighten and crop irregular corners out

thanks well there were a couple of people who occasionaly went past but I think they were in a hurry cos I gave them "the look" hehe I don't care if they thought I was some kind of freak, it's always worth it for a good picture

Cool! I used to work at Manchester Airport and personally I think it's the best airport in the UK. Beats Heathrow hands down!

oh yeah definetley - I hate heathrow and loathe stansted. I kind of got used to manchester now, and it's my favourite airport, not to mention the coolest one, I mean that skywalk at night is breathtaking! Where are you from then?
