Description Phew, dooone. I swear I'll be dreaming of carpets tonight. But hey, this was fun. Have been wanting to do a study of our living room for a while now, because I love how the sunlight bounces around in it.

As a reference for this I used a picture that I just quickly snapped with my cellphone. I used only standard hard and soft round brushes here. No colour picking off the reference, no layer or brush blend modes. Only in the very end I did a few subtle colour tweaks on the whole painting, that's it.

Hope you guys enjoy it....I did...and should really do more studies like this. Tell me what you think!

Hi there, do you mind if i use this as a modeling reference?
Beautiful lighting and warmth mood... getting homesick for just looking at this artwork.

I'm sure if you took a picture of your living room it would be nothing special, but to paint it like this made your living room awesome!!!!!!!!! I like that you kept it with simple brushes. A style that's very smooth and pleasant to look at. Great job.

Hey Mike, thanks so much =] The main reason I stuck to the basic round brush is also that I really wanted to challenge myself here, to try and paint as realistically as possible without relying on any custom brushes, textures or things like that. And it was fun

Haha! Until I saw the DD I really thought this was a photo xD I was all like "Yeah, it's pretty and all, but what am I looking at? Did he move around the furnisure or something?" Lol. What an amazing piece of art. To think people can even draw like this. Just, wow!

memod In reply to Naga-Hunter [2012-07-22 18:19:10 +0000 UTC]

Haha thanks Well I guessss in thumbnail view it may be able to fool someone But I think it soon becomes apparent, that it is a painting =] But in the end it's still a study. I did have a reference...with the goal, of course, to use what I learn from these studies in my creative pieces as well =]

Thank you

O.O I'm always so jealous of people who can paint. I had to learn for school and I'm pants at it. I sew much better than I can illustrate.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

memod In reply to Aikohana [2012-05-22 10:31:00 +0000 UTC]

But there is no need to be jealous =] You can learn to paint as well. It takes time and dedication, of course, but it is absolutely possible.
And see, I never learned to sew, except for a little bit at school waaaay back

My first impression was: Why is a stupid photo of a living room in the daily deviations?" Then, when I looked closely I saw that it was a painting. AN AMAZING PAINTING.

memod In reply to Klizzy [2012-05-21 14:30:43 +0000 UTC]

Haha, thanks But I think it really only fools people in the thumbnail view. In full view it should still be clear that it was painted
