Description A lot of people have been asking how I make the abstract thingies I've been posting lately, so here you go. I don't know if this is any good or not but hopefully it will give you the idea.

Wow. Nice to see people sharing their methods. I wish I could use my computer to it's full potential but I'm form a provincial district and upbringing. I'm barly able to use DA. Very interesting that your started with a branch. Creative!

Thanks! You say you can't use your computer to its full potential- is it the computer itself and the programs on it that are holding you back, or just lack of expertise using them? Because if you do have Photoshop but don't get the descriptions of how to do things, ask and I'll try to explain more clearly. Cause if you have the programs to work with, there's no reason a provincial upbringing should limit your art.

The method I shared is a simplified version of the process I use to make my abstract thingies... I usually use a lot more layering and contrasts and gradients and all that craziness. Using that process, you can start with just about anything and get an interesting result.

I still haven't figured out how to use a lot of the features of DA... someone bought me a subscription but I just don't know how to do all the extra abilities it's supposed to give you. So, no worries. You are not alone.

That's exedingly kind of you, but my computer is a windows 94 and I don't have a paint shop. I'm only we have a modern scaner though and I'm able to upload things directly from it since my computer realy does not have any good way to store immages. All of the immages in my gallery are there and not on my computer since it does not have much memory. If it sounded like it was just my ignorance I must not have been clear enough. I'm still very gratefull for your interest in helping me!

Aww, that sucks. I'm so addicted to Photoshop I can't imagine life without it. Then on the other hand, that's probably a good influence on your art; you never got into the lazy habit of using the computer to fix things for you.
I was ranting to one of my friends about how the wacom tablet means I can draw things with an undo feature, and he was like, "You shouldn't need it! Learn to do it right the first time!"

I never get things right the first time, especialy when I am sketching things other than knots. I have every kind of eraser that I have seen for sale. I also use light 2H pencils to make all of my mistakes with.

oh holy crap i just thought you went nuts with a paintbrushed line. i guess stock selection is key. Ever try doing someone's face? Go take a gander at the artistic nude section lol. Now THAT'd be abstract.

Sometimes I use stock, but often I do stuff more complicated. This is pretty much an easy way. Yes, I have tried doing people's faces, but it doesn't always turn out that great. No, never tried doing it with nudes. By the time I finished they'd look nothing like people anyway.
