Long time no post. This one took me some time not because of the manual detailing but because of me trying to figure out exactly what I want with it- apart from having the armored horse and guy, high walls and maybe some people on foot but not on focus. ... AaaanywayRelated content

I love the picture; the armors are really something to look at, also they are shiny so my eyes are instantly drawn XD The Orcs' bald heads are also shiny so I also looked at them a lot XDDD Who is the rider? I was thinking maybe Kurkach because his eyes are yellow but I guess that's a bit too little to make such assumptions XD
I really like the ear-protectors on the horse

You may be laughing now, but I really didn't feel like bothering with the individual stones, and architecture-wise these shapes made most sense at the moment XD

Nah, I decided to make a redesign of a helmet I've been drawing since '07 that had horns and a spike at the forehead. I wanted to make a variation of the theme that is a bit less videogamey, so I made the protruding bits smaller and more closer to the head. The facial part of the old one wasn't problematic but I wanted to try something new in that area too. So I wasn't looking specifically for a crowned look, but that's a cool side effect.

I love how the rider just pops out of the picture! More 3D than most of those ripoff movies. Fantastic job with that! I also really like the armor on the horsy. The dudes standing around look fine too. Great job with the reflected light and in general the palette is very pleasing.
Also daymn, that perspective! You are so damn good!

I made up the crowd as I went and as usual they look like there's at least one potential adventurer party in it. An evil adventurer party. The guy with the elf child on a leash would deny all accusations and lie that it is his child and he just keeps it this way for safety.

Oh, it's the pop out effect alright, no worries there! Nothing is too dark, not on my screen anyway.
At first I thought the other people were an army, but they don't look like that. Too heterogeneous. And that guy with the kid is totally legit. It's his child. He bought it fair and square in an Elf Child Shop. He's got the receipt to prove it. It's vaccinated and fixed and it's none of your business.

One of my initial ideas was that there would be an army in front of that castle. But then I thought "Ok so in this scenario the reason why he's with his back turned is because he is giving them a rousing speech as they are about to attack. But they are too close to the castle walls, they would be in range of the archers!"
