a stony gaze to pierce my skin
the story told by next of kin
a ravaged life of misery
untold by all the men to be
within my heart there lies a lie
hidden well for fear I'll die
when asked, again, a tale is told
a woven web of fibs unfolds
and if the story goes too far
in their minds, it leaves a scar
one day, my friend, a scar you'll see
and set the lie within me free
but 'til that day does come to pass
I'll hide behind my looking glass
a world within that I hold dear
