I am joining DnD campaign as a Human Paladin.

Rutgerus Olafsen van Steenland is the son of Duke Olaf Rutgerussen van Steenland (formerly Goði Olafúr Ragnarsson), chieftain of a tribe of sea raiders from the Wildlands who were allowed by the Commonwealth to settle in the southern shores of the kingdom, known as Steenland, if they defended them from the Durr.

In time, Ruud grew disappointed in the cultural assimilation of his people, so he rejected the ducal throne and exiled himself from Steenland. He joined the Red Falcons mercenary company as a line breaker and soon became one of their champions. He was part of the doomed expedition against the giants but survived the Battle of the Howling Valley because he was so drunk he was left in the camp by his companions.

Full of remorse, Ruud traveled back to the Wildlands and, taking the name Ragnar Olafúrsson, joined the Úlfa, an elite force of mercenaries who worship the God of War Ormir, the First King. Years later, the Völva of the Úlfar had a vision and sent Ruud back to the Commonwealth, only telling him it was the will of the Wargod.
