What I really like about this photograph is though it is HDR processd it is looking very natural. And this is due to the nice technique you have used. You seem to know what you are doing Also, the composition is great with the rocks in the front playing very well their role as eye-catching objects.

What I would suggest is maybe, since you post process you images, give more attention to sky or to the ground. I don't know which fits you better but I would really like to see a version of the same photo but with the horizon placed a little bit up or down than just inthe moddle.

However I beliieve that it is a great photograph and a pice to be proud of

thanks so much for your thoughtful comment, really appreciate it

just so you know, actually this is not hdr processed, although I did blend exposures. I agree in general about the horizon, and usually tend to place it either 1/3 from the top or bottom, to emphasise foreground or sky, like you say. here, however, I was shooting in a frenzy cos the sun was rising quickly and I'd only just arrived, so didn't have ages to choose compositions carefully. the compo here isn't 100% how I would have wanted it, but I liked the overall shot too much not to make something of it

so.. there is a slight compromise in the compo here in that I think taking anything from the bottom would have made it even more "centralised" and robbed a bit of impact, and cropping from the top would have cut out that cloud, which is a vital part of the image..

cheers again

may i ask if you are using any filters or just hdr?

i really love this shot.

of course you may ask

I use hdr, or just plain exposure blending if the hdr process doesn't look natural enough to me... I'm quite keen on the idea of filters in principle but find that I can do most of the things I want to in photomatix and photoshop.... I try not to stray too far from representing what my eye saw at the time.... I think this was the first one processed through an upgraded version of photomatix which really does a much better job than I'm used to and requires less messing in photoshop.... bit of a long answer when just a simple "hdr" would have sufficed lol!

I really admire your work too, and might I ask the same question right back atcha?
