Take 2I think it's a lot better but I drawing digitally is a bit harder for me. I took some comments in to account and used the same character for the entire thing, even though I had about 5 sketchbook pages I could have scanned.

I've been wanting to do this myself, but I don't draw well straight digitally either and the squares are too small. D=
This is pretty well done. I like it better than the last one, mostly because I get more of a sense of the character and expression. Is this Tal?

Yup, that's Tal.
I actually drew this way larger than the original. The first time I printed out the sheet and traced over it so they were only 1 inch. Easier since I can zoom in digitally but it's still kind of awkward.

Ah, that makes sense. I just have little control over the stylus because it's a lot like an ink pen and I have little control of pens. The zooming is nice though, but unless you're okay with messy, it's still hard since it doesn't emulate pencil well.

I always had better luck sketching in painter, which I don't have any more. Scratchboard tool emulated dip pen nicely.

Wow! Even when just showing excpressions you're really amazing. I love the facial expression on the Serious,Happy, WTF, Confident, and the hallow/blank.

Fierce looks a little scared or surprised, possibly even confused. I think for "fierce" he should look a bit more confrontational, staring down the "camera" or at least facing whatever he's looking at, and maybe leaning toward it.
Rage and angry don't quite look enraged or angry enough! Though maybe he's just a pretty chill character-- I don't know him.
Definitely looks like the same character from panel to panel, though.

I liked the original but I also get how being all one person really nails home the point of all the various expressions. The only one that feels a little hmm off is fierce feels more Panic to me lol something about the eyes hard to explain though and lol yeah the new critique is uhm different

The fierce expression is *quite* fierce. He looks like he's about to sprout fangs and attack!

Expressions are always the hardest to get right. I'm getting better at drawing them. Must practice more to improve.

Have you seen Scott McCloud's third book? It goes into great detail with expressions. He uses a couple of basic emotions as a base, and combines them to create different emotions, e.g. fear + hatred = disgust, that sort of thing. This reminded me of that a bit. It was interesting.
