I love the simplicity of this. I think it stands out better than if it was in colour. I love the way the white almost seems to glow

How beautiful. You should make a colored version of this!

This is absolutely beautiful. Your technique is astounding! Were you using ink with brushes? Either way, the lines are really beautiful- I especially love the delicate intricacy of the patterns on her kimono.

Actually I think the black part was just micron pens, because I didn't have a lot of space to work.

Very cool! The lines are so clean! (I have trouble getting lines that clean with my pens, but I'm still learning.) How did you do the white?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeredithDillman In reply to Ameko-no-Mori [2012-09-04 17:58:00 +0000 UTC]

I used a bottle of white acrylic ink. You could probably try a white gel pen but they wont be as opaque

Ameko-no-Mori In reply to MeredithDillman [2012-09-04 20:09:56 +0000 UTC]

Very cool. So you used a brush with the white ink, or a calligraphy pen? I'm also curious to know what the lovely canvas material is, I love the texture

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeredithDillman In reply to Ameko-no-Mori [2012-09-04 20:31:22 +0000 UTC]

I use a pen with a very small comic/drawing nib. The paper is mi-tientes, which is usually what people use for drawing pastels.

This is so lovely The linework and the details are really nice to look at and the details added with the white pen gives a lot to it as a whole * v *

Ink? How neat! I initially thought white conte.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeredithDillman In reply to BrandyWoods [2012-09-03 17:03:59 +0000 UTC]

The first time I tried this technique I used a white color pencil. It is definitely too small for conte. Then I tried white acrylic ink in my pen, which gives a stronger line [link]
