Description well. this is a little gift for *kayceeus whose art got me inspired enough to do ANYTHING. i'd link to her tutorial but to tell the truth it didn't work much, but experiments can get you far anyway, thanks i still couldn't get it to look really paint-like :/

so, bg is [link] by ~shudder-stock
girl is [link] by =AttempteStock
for the textures:

How great, I like it, I think it turned out pretty well! I'm sorry the tutorial didn't help you though but I'm glad you tried something new!

yeah, i guess the tutorial was good for the exact textures and pics you used, if you tried the exact settings on anything else you just get a piece of crap but i'll get there someday

Oh yeah you have to try different settings but that's no big deal you just run through all the modes, I do that with every texture I try.

exactly. but it doesn't guarantee you get the renaissance-painting feel to it

Right, that's mostly the textures that you use. I use a lot of cloud textures to get that look. Like this one [link] give it a try. I don't resize it and I put it on soft light or screen mode mostly. Of course it depends on the photos you're using but it usually works OK for me, used along with other textures. I hope it helps. There's really no one thing I do every time I just try a bunch of different textures and modes until I get the ones I like.

i know what really seems to get me half-way there - a chipped paint texture (with lots of little pieces), embossed (change the color cause it turns gray) and the overlay or multiply (or whatever else). it looks like the cracked tarnish you get on really old paintings. but the effect you give is in the art itself (damn i can't verbalise what i mean). yours is in the style and atmosphere of the pic, and this what i just said is in the physical part.

Geez I don't know how else to describe it, to tell you the truth I just keep adding and taking off textures until I get what I want, there's really no one thing I do every time. It must just be the stock I use. But if you ever need any help just let me know, I'll be happy to do what I can
