You can really work with charcoals O.o I'm still learning to get even a somehow tolerable result...

Try using Charcoal Pencils to start with. It makes it a bit easier.

Charcoal is my favorite medium, it's perfect for everything, isn't it? But also difficult to work with. This piece is very intense, the way his eyes are on the shadow it's quite unique. Congrats.

Thank you. I actually based this one off of a screenshot in the Prancing Pony Scene of the Fellowship of the Ring.
I do not find charcoal hard to work with at all... then again, I struggle with watercolors, lol!
