Hi, great render.
So since I'm also working on a scaley creature i've been studying the hell out of turtle/tortoise scales.
So here are some suggestions for the scales and detail in general.
I like how you have the scales on the forehead nice and big. I think the sacles on the cheek should be bigger. Generaly the less mobile areas have bigger scales. right now on th cheek I feel that the scales might be too small. They also might be to rough, turtles, which are aquatic, tend to have softer skin, and if they have scales like the sea turtle, softer scales.
I think the scales on his chin area are probably too small, though they should be smaller then the scales on the rest of his face. the chin and neck area should have more of a thick leathery feel to it.
I'll also venture to say that the "beak" doesn't need to have such deep details. a tortoise beak will end up with quite a bit of wear and tear, but generaly they start smooth. Since this creature is aquatic, it would probably have a smoother beak.
Lastly, for the texturing, i'd reccomed having a lighter color between his blue scales, which would make them pop more.
To finish this critique I'd just like to repeat that it looks great.

Thank you for your critique, it is super flattering!.
I love that you appreciate the depth of field effect that i used to simulate a macro - image of his face detail. Also it's always nice to have someone admire texture and detail - these are the things that make or break the finesse of a sculpt imo.
Cheers!

heh, you'd be surpised though. Not everything needs to have this much detail. Often you can fake a lot of it too with textures and bump maps!

Heh but you have to get there first. Like, getting the anatomy together properly.Β
Maybe someday in the future IΒ΄ll give it a go again tho XD
(ThereΒ΄s no better feeling than seeing the own OCs rendered in 3D)

If just Pokemon Go were like this... But the way, nice work!!! What software did you use to render it? Blender? Autodesk Maya?
