I've been making these dragon masks for a while now. Everyone seems to have a favorite version. This one is MY favorite version, because I love blue and gold together.As ever, this is my own original mask design. I make these out of leather and mix my own acrylic paints which are applied by hand. No molds or forms are used in the sculpting and carving process.
This guy is special 'cause he has a blue paua shell inlaid in his forehead. I tried to match the blue of the shell with my paint, which is a vibrant deep metallic blue drybrushed over black scales.

The flame design is so sleek & simple; I think the gold almost looks like real gold...it's so flashy! Very happy with this version & I'll definitely keep making it.

Now that is nice, the stark contrast between the deep blue and shiny gold really work, pulls the whole design together............... Really like how you twirl those horns and ears..........

Oh wow...I don't even know how many masks I've made altogether. I have over 100 patterns in my files but then there are designs I make with no patterns at all, plus all the possible designs & color combinations. I've made thousands for sure.
