Description this is my test to see if the eyes came out well. I am attempting to re-create the 3-d eyes look using only the materials I have available to me. I used empty water bottle containers to get this one to work.

O.k... Five questions:
1) Are just about all of your masks articulated?
2) How do you make the base form?
3) How/where in the world do I get my hands on liquid latex?
4) How do you get your masks to work with the movement of your jaw?
5) What the heck are those eyes made out of?

Sorry for the twenty questions. I've been chewing on these problems for a few years now.

1)not this one. but most of my masks are static jaw, except for my black werewolf, he does have a hinged jaw.

2)this one was a test to see how cheaply I could make a mask, so he is made of hot glue and cardboard. My black werewolf mask is papermache ( [link] ). And all the other masks are made from simple lightweight foam and high temp hot glue ( [link] ). as you can see the foam heads are built around a positive of my own head that I made from plaster bandages.

3)I ordered my latex through amazon.com. A company called "cementex" has a variety of strengths to choose from. Costs roughly $40 a gallon and maybe less depending on what your looking for.

4)The foam masks are more of a static jaw, which means they only move cause the foam itself bends or moves with the jaw cause the mask is custom fit to the face. The black werewolf mask I made from papermache is actually a hinged jaw with elastic to keep it shut, so that you use your own jaw to pry the jaw open and it closes on it's own.

5)this set of eyes was a test to see if I could re-create the 3-d eyes look using only the materials I have available to me. I used empty water bottle containers, white paint, and black see through mesh for the pupils. turned out pretty well I think. But I have a much easier method of makeing 3-d eyes now, and I posted a video on youtube on how to make them. If your interested then click on this link ( [link] )

if you got any more questions or if I haven't explained something in detail enough just ask away...I will help if I can.

I'll have to check that Youtube later when I'm on a better computer. But thank you so much! Did you use the same 3D method on your white tiger mask as well or did you do something different. I've heard many comments about using taxidermy eyes but I'm not sure you'd get the same effect. Your explanations have been fantastic.

the eyes in the tiger are the eyes I make in the youtube video. I actually show them in my mask at the end of the video. Taxidermy eyes do look good, but most of them are not made with depth so they don't have the "follow me" effect.

I've seen 'em done a million different ways. These are certainly working, though... looks like this head will be awesome when it's finished!
