The Angel Bricklayer.
Painted in 1916, this was one ofΒ the last known paintings by the famous Filipino Artist Miguel deΒ Mercado, during his famous "Mad Period."
In this notebook wherein lie his preliminary sketches and notes, he describes theΒ woman dressed as an angel, who would be born in 2039. His madΒ writings mentioned her participation in a worldwide peace organization called the "Overwatch." called by God to stop an apocalyptic race war between man and machine.
As Mercado descended into madness, his works went well unnoticed until their rediscovery happened to coincide with a videogame character introduced 100 years later.
