Name: Lydia
Gender: Female
Age/Era: 22/1690s
Height: 5’9”/173cm

Tree: Laburnum; Golden Rain Tree

Dorm: Winter

Personality:

Polite | Knowledgeable | Courageous | Curious | Sociable | Calm | Petty | Sly | Prideful

Lydia is a very polite and elegant person, she never lets her emotions show on her face and always presents herself with a smile. She can come off as rather cunning, as her smiles often appear sly or wicked. Despite this, Lydia is very sociable, she enjoys good company and isn’t afraid to share information in exchange for information. She’s extremely courageous, almost seemingly unafraid of everything.

She’s super curious about the world, always looking to learn new things and persisting to do so until she truly understands the subject at hand. Because she is very prideful, she is also extremely petty. If she feels she’s been wronged, she will often times go as far as mildly poisoning a person.

“Greetings, It seems this is our first time meeting. My name is Lydia, a pleasure to meet you. I hope you find comfort in this establishment, as many of us have.”

Reason of death

She was accused of being a witch and drowned.

Lydia was born in 1670 as a child of a single parent. She was born without the ability to speak, a mute child. Her father was the village doctor and thus her not being able to speak was put aside, as the village did not want to lose such a knowledgeable and kind doctor.

Growing up, Lydia loved to learn about the world of medication, and through her father she had learned many things about medicine and poisons alike. As she grew, Lydia found that her interest in poisonous herbs and substances grew, and along with it grew suspicions from the villagers.

As her father grew older, he grew weaker. Despite being a reputable doctor, there were still many things that even he was not able to cure. Not soon after his falling ill, Lydia’s father had passed away. Despite her father’s passing, Lydia did not mourn. She knew that her father would only be sad up in heaven to see her cry, so she smiled for him.

The villagers only grew more wary of Lydia because of this. They had already been suspicious of her since the beginning, and now that her father has passed away they’ve no reason to be kind to her. Rumors started to spread.

“I heard that she poisoned her own father.”

“A witch! That wench is surely a witch.”

“She sold her words to the Devil for knowledge! She’ll poison the whole village!”

It wasn’t long before she had been captured and put up for a witch trial.

“If she sinks, she’s innocent! If she floats, she’s a witch!”

Why that specific tree?
The Laburnum reminded her of herself. Seemingly harmless, but all around poisonous.

Trivia

  • She has, more than once, consumed poisonous herbs for the sake of research.

  • Has a few scratches from her arm from testing medicine and poisons on herself.

  • Extremely afraid of large bodies of water, though she can’t remember why.

  • It took her many years in Kikuen to grasp and get used to speaking.

  • She’s extremely curious about new technology.

  • She loves the new generation’s shorter dresses, as she finds them extremely cute, but still feels uncomfortable exposing too much skin and therefore always wears tights or stockings.

  • Always looks like she’s up to something, but usually she isn’t... unless you’ve wronged her.

  • Has a dimple on her left cheek when she smiles.
