Description Necklace made from brass rings and mother-of-pearl coin beads. The rings are made of so-called "jewellers brass" which contains less zinc than normal brass which makes it more gold coloured and less yellow.

Theophanu (greek Θεοφανώ, ca. 960 - 991 AD), was one of the most influential medieval female rulers. The byzantine princess and niece to the byzantine emperor John I. Tzimiskes became Empress through her marriage to Holy Roman Emperor Otto II. Unless most other Holy Roman Empresses in history (Empress of the Holy Roman Empire is the title given to the consort of the Emperor. The full authority of Holy Roman Emperor was restricted to males only, therefore there was never a Holy Roman Empress regnant, though women such as Theophanu served as de facto Empresses regnant) she participated in government and after her husband's death she even served as regent of the Empire as the guardian of her underage son Otto III.
