This is my first mermaid with color, finished in 1999...well..yes...ages ago! I always like mermaid with long cruvy heavy volumn hair~ it looks so sexy~ for the tail, i like the color as Madison in Splash~
very typical mermaid image~~ not creative enough~

I am a mer-phile, so take it from me when I say, for your first mermaid, this is a good one.
Try to keep the fins and tail of similar (though not-always identical) coloring.
One thing, since this is your first: mermaids do NOT have a specific knee like a human does.
