I'll start off by saying that I've never really cared for Transformers. I remember coming accross it a few times and being generally underwhelmed, partly because (in some versions, at least) the base model of most characters was so similar that I kept losing track who was who.But somehow, Transformers Animated caught my eye. I don't really care to dissect the exact reasons why, I'm just going with the flow while I'm having fun. So I've taken the first, instinctive step of an fangirl: creating an original character based on the show.
Everyone, meet Scraps. I'm not really sure where the idea came from, but somehow I thought a bot who was built almost entirely of other bots' scrapped parts would be interesting.
The other bot who's hand she's holding in the middle part is her brother/caretaker, who so far goes by the workname Fourarms, though I'm despeately trying to come up with something better.
I've also been trying to come up with their alt modes, but have so far drawn all blanks on that matter.

"When I was little..." That alone puts it outside the usual transformers medium. There are ways to wrap the mind about the idea of these robots growing up (Robots, Cars - anyone?) but I still find it hard to imagine a little Optimus Prime or a little Megatron.
Then again, I know so little about the story lines involved with the Transformers that I've never seen anything about how they add pieces and parts to themselves. It would be an interesting story to find Scraps, building up to the point she can become something new.

The childhood-thing is a pretty well-established branch of the fanon. I'm with it just for the cuteness factor, really.
And occasionally to annoy a few purists who claim it's implausible and say I shouldn't like it. >:3

Scraps is adorable, and I love the idea. It's unique, creative, and visually rich. Story-wise, it'd also provide a fascinating challenge figuring out how Scraps would be received, or why she's built the way she is. Heck, she might be able TOO transform at all, what with all the body-part mashing.
I love Fourarms already: so serious and intent on his work, and then you notice that he's holding little Scraps hand (so cute!).
Incidentally, from the sounds of it, perhaps the reason you got into Animated was because of the smaller yet more diverse cast. I know for me, the characters are the most most important part of a story.

You know, Scraps not being able to transform because her parts don't fit together is something I've thought about. It would make sense, really.
And yeah, FA is one of those awesome big brothers who always are there to support their younger siblings. I need to draw him more.

This is adorable, Scrap is so cute! reading the little part up their made me lol, took me a sec too see that Fourarms had... four arms. XD love the idea you have for her.
