Well let's see...
Tom clearly spies on Marco and knows his hobbies and interests.
He clearly talks about him to Brian and Mr. Candle a lot.
They both share similar insecurities and Marco is comfortable telling things to tom that he clearly isn't with star.
Apparently Tom put a curse on Marco to keep him from asking anyone on a date ((Which he claims he did around the bloodmoon ball, but then again tom lies quite a bit...))
Tom and Marco are growing closer on the show, and still spend time together.
Marco is the only one who can control tom and knows how to help him properly
They sang a romantic duet
Marco is Tom's only real friend, and probably the first friend who's ever validated his feelings and can encourage him to get better
Tom actually values Marco's feelings and emotions, putting his happiness ahead of his own in "FriendEnemies" just to apologize.((Something even Star doesn't do most of the time))
Marco helped Tom realize his mistakes and allowed him to finally move on from Star.
Tom no longer needs to chase after Star, because Marco provides him with someone who will keep him company, someone who he can feel comfortable talking about his insecurities to, someone who can keep him in check and can help him overcome his issues, and someone who likes him for who he is.....who he really is.
Honestly are we even sure STAR is the one Tom has a crush on anymore?

But then it changes
Marco and Tom started off hating each other, but that has changed remotely this season, who knows where they'll go with heir relationship in the future?
It's not impossible.
And these two could do great for each other.

Well dang. XD Well that's very true, I mean the creators of the show don't do these things on accident or coincidence, everything is on purpose. The way you said it made Tom and Marco seem to have a boyfriend relationship. Tom needs Marco, honestly according to my own thoughts and opinions Marco is the only one keeping Tom... Alive. And that duet, that whole thing sounded more like a boyfriend breakup than two friends having an argument. You know, I'm going to make a YouTube theory video about this. It's a shame this ship doesn't get the credit it deserves, because their relationship is very fascinating and has a lot of potential for future episodes. Plus, Disney is now alot less shy about showing gay couples/characters in their shows and movies, and this has potential and could definitely happen if the crew wanted to go this route.
Who knows, maybe this ship could secretly be the real ship this show was building up to this whole time?
But either way, Tom and Marco's relationship ((Whether you consider it platonic or romantic)) is a really great one on this show, and if you're up to diving into it, those sources provide some great evidence.

Wonderful! I'll of COURSE link you the video! And I do agree; this ship doesn't get enough credit. And I'M HERE TO FIX THAT!!! And my video isn't gonna be like I'm just randomly ranting or something... I will have a script and special effects and everything... also though I'm not using a very advanced program so maybe my future ones will be better. It's sad it gets buried under so much starco, it has so much potential and under the right circumstances, it could definitely work and could end up canon.
It would be a nice change from the usual "Main boy and girl get together" trope.

Yeah, there's a high chance it will become canon, and I don't absolutely hate it, but there are other ships people!!! You don't always have to be worshiping Starco!! All hail Starco, all hail Starco! Okay, great! I'd like to update you: I've been spending a lot of time on a Tomco amv, and I wanted to let you know that it will be done soon. They're cats though, since that's the only thing I can draw... that's okay, though. It still looks like them. It's with the song "I hate you" By Simon Curtis. It's a line-art amv, which is cool, and a lot easier. Just thought I'd tell you.
If only we could find a time that we're both on at the same time- then we could just chat normally instead of having to wait.
