Description This is the Atlantian Royal Scrivener scroll for the new scrivener who stepped up after me, Eilionora of Black Diamond. I have now made THREE scrolls for her. You can see the scroll she made that won the competition here:

It's based off the Gorleston Psalter (East Anglia, early 14th cent.), specifically Psalms109/110.

I think this has become one of my absolute favorite styles. Probably my top favorite, to be honest.

The miniature is based off of a portrait of Baruch Baruch in a Parisian glossed Bible from the mid-late 13th century.

This is a pretty blurry poorly-lit picture, but oh wells.

This is absolutely gorgeous! I'm envious on how you can get your vines so even (I think they're called vines, anyways...), when I'm turning circles to have the leaf in the middle, my vines always seem to turn out lopsided and uneven on either sides.

And I love the style of illumination too! Do you know if the Gorleston Psalter is online? I've been looking around but haven't found an actual webpage for it yet.

Thank you! The vines/leaves are always a bit tricky for me too. I have to draw them a couple of times (pencil, then over again in pen) in order to get them right.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the Gorleston psalter online either... the best I've been able to come up with is just google images stuff. I found this particular folio in a book, and it was just the one.

With me, the pencils of the vines always look good. And then when I ink them, it looks like I developed a case of shakey-hand syndrome (in some cases, I do, because I'm so nervous for my inks to turn out right!)

That's too bad about the Gorleston Psalter, it looks like such a pretty book!
