Puffins are awsome. They look a bit stupid though, and really don't look like they've been designed to fly, and they tend to 'crash' rather than land, lol.

Lots and lots of attempts is the trick here. I found the middle of a flightpath, where they were going between the sea and their nests, put the camera on continous focus on a dynamic subject, set the camera to continous shooting, and started firing away. I took about 1100 shots in total, with about half of those being out of focus, blurred or just rubbish. Still, if it gets just one good shot its worth it imo.

I think continuous shooting it's the only way to get a subject in movement. I think a lens with a VR helps too.

You took 1100 shots in total? You must have been carrying lots of batteries.

Apparently VR should be turned off when doing panning etc, as it gets confused, lol. All that was on 1 battery btw, and there was plenty charge left over. Ive been meaning to gte another spare battery, but this one is doing very well on its own so far.
