Oh. My. Goodness.
I don't know how long this took me... I lost count after 18 hours...
Oh well.
Now...I do apologize in advance if the description for this seems like it gets long...but I feel like there's a lot of explanation for this piece. Why I did it. What it means to me. etc.
First off, to be honest...part of the reason I decided to do this piece was because of inspiration I received from looking at my good friend Autumn123Charlotte's piece "ITS OK." autumn123charlotte.deviantart.…
It kind of left me thinking...wondering for...quite some time. It- it made me think about not just Optimus's demons...but my own...and humanity's.
Maybe this is just my opinion, but - I can't help but feel like it's an undeniable fact that there's evil in all of us. And...watching TF AOE...I have to wonder...just what kind of demons would someone like our beloved Optimus Prime have? I'm pretty sure we all know the answer to that though. Still, I bet you anything that if OP was a real someone...he would probably feel guilt and remorse for some of his past actions in the war for Cybertron...and...I think it's guilt, remorse, fear and anger that create everyone's demons. And it's those things that we all have to face and fight at some point or another...some of us...everyday.
This image is meant to illustrate that battle for Optimus. That being said, I think it's important to note; Optimus's opponent is not Nemesis Prime. If anything, I suppose-- you'd probably have to call him Shadow Prime...because that's exactly what it is intended to be...Optimus's shadow.

Phew...now that THAT is out of the way, I can move on to the formalities of this piece.
Like the one I submitted earlier this week, ( opgirl106.deviantart.com/art/T… ) this is a digital abstract painting - a method that I'm honestly not too familiar with but...I'm finding I may have a knack for. ^^

I assure you though (as I'm sure I've done in other images), in no way, shape, or form was the original image used. I had the reference image placed next to my canvas and I started (digitally) painting a replica. One of which, (IF YOU LOOK) are not identical. Which actually bums me out but what do you do?

I've always considered Nemesis Prime as a representation of Optimus' inner demons, or evil shall we say. However this concept of a Shadow Prime seems quite fitting, especially for AOE Prime.
I'd be interested in downloading this and using it as a background for my laptop.

Ho-ly friiiiiikkkk.... This is incredible oh my gosh. The way you've done the entire pic is beyond fantastic. I love how the details are clear, but the colours somehow seem soft at the same time, if that makes sense. I've got so many feels over this picture but don't know how to put words to them, gosh. Also, I haven't heard of 'digital abstract' as a method, before. How'd you find out about it? And how did it work for you in this pic?

Well, first off...thank you for the exstatic praise for this piece. ^^ I'm truly honored. And no worries~ "the details are clear, but the colours somehow seem soft" makes total sense to me.
As far as the method of digital abstract...well...to be honest I really didn't hear of it anywhere. It's just an abstract form of art using a digital means of media. Truth be told...I just assumed everyone was familiar with digital abstract being as I see it everywhere.

Hahaha it could be that I'm familiar with it, but just think of it as something else. How did you start with the pic? Did you block in the shapes and then work on the details, or did you have a base sketch or something?

Well, I honestly just started painting shapes. Working from negative spaces gradually moving into positive spaces.
Then I just put the shapes together to eventually form an image that we all can easily recognize as being Optimus. :]
From that point...it was just a matter of copying and distorting the image I made of Optimus to form a believable shadow character.
Then I added a background, smoky brush effects, lighting effects, vibrance and hue enhancements on multiple layers, gradients and...well...much MUCH more. If I were to tell you EVERYTHING I did...you'd be sitting here reading for a while.
