I never played Street Fighter III, so I didn't really know who Dudley was, going into Super Street Fighter IV. But one of my friends in college was obsessed with Dudley, and he became this legend of an in-joke because one of our professors had a similar skin tone, a mustache, and a penchant for wearing puffy white shirts. We took to calling that professor "Dudley," and would frequently pick the gentleman boxer when playing Street Fighter with each other on the 3DS. He actually became one of my favorites to play as, and pretty soon I really came to appreciate the character in his own right, and not just because of his status as an in-joke. He's since become one of my absolute favorite Street Fighter characters.

He's so funny and over-the-top, as many Street Fighter characters are. I love him sipping tea with his boxing gloves on in his SSFIV ending, and his insistence to "fight like gentlemen" and "keep it classy" make him super quotable. I dunno, I guess between Dudley, Layton, and Edgeworth, I have a thing for proper gentlemen!
