Because the only reason Twilight is the Medic in my series is because Merasmus is not playable

I dunno.Β Merasmus' silliness is unintentional, and for the most part he takes himself pretty seriously, so I am certain he would find Discord to be just as annoying as the Soldier, the only difference being that Soldier is just stupid while Discord is intentionally frustrating.

Actually, I think Zecora might be a slightly better fit for Merasmus. I mean, thematically, her thing as a witch doctor could be pretty close to an evil wizard, and AJ originally didn't like her.

Then again, Trixie is MUCH hammier than Zecora is, AJ didn't like her either, and AJ said she lost her eye to a -unicorn-...

Since Scream Fortress... I forget which year.Β He's not a playable character, but an important bit of lore (he's the Soldier's ex-roommate and is partially responsible for Demoman's lost eye).

Legit lore.
TF2 has some lore; for example, the war is carried by two brothers who hate each other (Redmond and Blutarch) who want to kill the other off for their land.Β The brothers themselves are over 100 years old because the Engineer's grandaddy built an immortality machine for each one to extend their lives indefinitely.
Magic in the TF2 world is largely limited to Halloween in the form of Merasmus the Magician; an ancient, Scottish magician.Β Said magician owns the book, the Bombinomicon, which possessed Demoman's left eye, which Merasmus removed, which became Monoculus.Β The Soldier would eventually become Merasmus' roommate, but the two have a hostile relationship that ends up with the Soldier burning Merasmus' body when his spirit flees it and then Merasmus himself trying to kill everyone the Soldier cares about.
