TADAH! At long last, it's finished!
I've been working on this suit of armor for oh, about fifteen months and 100-150 hours.
This photo doesn't really do it justice; the pants the pair I added chainmail to the sides of, and the boots are the ones I added the buckles to.
The gauntlets were the hardest part. I went through about ten thousand designs on them, before finally settling on lining the inside of the forearm with an elastic mesh of rubber and steel chainmail rings. This works quite well; the gauntlets stay up and sit skin-tight.
Oh, and I've been lifting heavily and drinking a gallon of milk a day for the purpose of cutting a more imposing figure in this armor.
The leg armor was the final piece, and I think rounds out the armor quite nicely.
Altogether, it's ten buckles, seven sets of laces, twenty six spikes, and god knows how many scales and rings.
I'd estimate the whole getup weighs twenty-thirty pounds or so.
I've made a sword to match the armor, and am currently in the process of constructing the scabbard.
